<br />" <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />9~ <br /> <br />Colorado River Storage Project <br />Animas-La Plata Participating Project <br />Colorado, New Mexico <br /> <br />Location This project is located in southwestem Colorado and northwestem New <br />Mexico. <br /> <br />Description The authorized project would provide 80,100 acre-feet annually of <br />municipal and industrial (M&I) water supplies. This project is designed to <br />satisfy the requirements of the Colorado Ute Indian Water Rights <br />Settlement Act of 1988. New M&I water supplies of 7,600 acre feet would <br />be provided for the Navajo Tribe; 6,000 acre-feet for the Ute Mountain Ute <br />Tribe; and 26,500 acre-feet for the Southern Ute Indian Tribe. M&I water of <br />9,200 acre feet would also be provided for Colorado non-Indians (for <br />Durango and La Plata and adjacent rural areas) and 30,800 acre-feet for <br />New Mexico communities and rural areas. The project would provide a full <br />water supply for the irrigation of 11,980 acres of Ute Mountain Ute Indian <br />tribal land, 31,500 acres of non-Indian land in Colorado, 1,800 acres of <br />Southem Ute Indian Reservation tribal land, and 4,530 acres of non-Indian <br />land in New Mexico. A supplemental supply would be provided for 17,650 <br />acres of presently irrigated land. Benefits would also result from recreation <br />and fish and wildlife enhancement. <br /> <br />Authorization Public Law 90-537, September 3D, 1968, and Public Law 100-585, <br />November 3, 1988. <br /> <br />Land certification January 19, 1982. As required by Public Law 99-294 (1986), a <br />supplemental trace element assessment was completed for the arable land <br />area of the Animas-La Plata Project. <br /> <br />Definite plan report Approved August 18, 1960. <br /> <br />Benefrt-cost ratio as <br />of October 1, 1996 In response to the Inspector General's report, Reclamation has updated its <br />economic analysis, This analysis and a range of benefit-cost ratios was <br />shared with Congress in July 1995 and continues to be refined. <br /> <br />Completion data <br /> <br />A cost-sharing agreement was signed with State, Federal, and Tribal <br />entities on June 3D, 1986, providing that Phase I of the project would be <br />constructed in not less than 12 years from initial construction. In order to <br />meet the deadlines contained in the 1986 Colorado Ute Indian Water Rights <br />Settlement Act and to honor its trust responsibilities, the Bureau of <br />Reclamation must show substantial progress in completion of Ridges Basin <br />Dam and Collection System in the next few years. <br /> <br />Construction - 197 <br /> <br />" <br />
