Beginning in fiscal year 1972 basic data will be collected <br /> <br />on these sources. <br /> <br />These investigations and the implementation of the irrigation sched- <br /> <br />uling and management work would cost about $18 million over the 10- <br />year period. Of this amount, $395,000 is currently being used to <br />initiate the program, increasing to $1,005,000 in fiscal year 1973. <br /> <br />Allied Programs <br /> <br />Important allied programs include weather modification, desalting, <br /> <br />geothermal resources, research, and the Western U.S. Water Plan. <br /> <br />Weather modification research now underway is expected to develop, <br /> <br />by 1980, a reliable and workable system for increasing precipitation. <br /> <br />The Upper Colorado River Basin will be one of the first areas where <br />
