<br />-9- <br /> <br />9. Upper Colorado River Commission. Since the last meeting of the <br />Colorado 1'Iater Conservation Board (December 16-17, 1949), the headquarters <br />of the Upper Colorado River Commission at Grand Junction, Colorado, have <br />been set up. The t:xecuti ve Secretary, J. G . Tlill, whose appointment was re- <br />ported to t~e Board at its last meeting, assumed the duties of his office <br />about the middle of January, 1950. The headquarters for the Commission are <br />located in the Grand Junction City Administration Building. The Commission <br />has been given two office rooms, to~ether with light, heat and janitor selV- <br />'rice by the Grand Junction City Council without charge. <br /> <br />The Commission held its last meeting at Grand Junction on 1~rch 20 <br />and 21, 1950. The next meeting of the Commission will be held at Cheyenne, <br />'ilyorning, on June 20, 1950. At the Larch meeting the Commission approved <br />a draft of the Commission's first annual report. Copies of this report have <br />been made available to the Governors of the participating States and to the <br />President of the United States. Printed copies of the report will be ready <br />for distribution in a short time. This report ,~ll be highly informative of <br />the activities and plans of the Commission. <br /> <br />By-laws adopted hy the Commission have been printed and if any member <br />of the Water Board has "C7, ro.ceived a copy of these by-laws, they may be ob- <br />tained at any time bJ c,r ",'Ec.ng the Director of this Board. <br /> <br />At its last me'" ;.'.,'7, th8 CO>mmission approved a budget for the fiscal <br />year July 1, 1950 to ,'n.'e' 30, 195:, in the amount of ;;';45,700.00. The Com- <br />mission approved the ap>J)..'l'C;161;t of Ralph D. Goodrich as Chief Engineer at <br />a salary of ~10,000 a year, It also approved the appointment of an Assistant <br />Engineer at a salary of not exceeding J6,000 a year. The latter position has <br />not been filled. <br /> <br />lire Goodrich formerly was Dean of the Engineering School of the Univ- <br />ersit~r of 'J';j'oming. He also 2.cted as engineering advisor to the "'yorning mem- <br />ber of the Upper Colorado River Basin negotiating corrmission, He is a mAn of <br />outstanding engineering ability ','i th bread experience in Colorado River <br />mat ters. <br /> <br />Barney rIhatley of Colorado has been appointed Treasurer of the Com- <br />mission. The First ;;ational Ban], in Grand Junction has been designated de- <br />pository of COL~ission funds. The GOLunission adopted resolutions providing <br />for a bond in the sum or ",50,000 to protect the GOIl4'I1ission's deposits and <br />also specifying deposit of securities to carry out such protection. In the <br />event the Treasurer of the CO~Jission at any time has funds on deposit in <br />exces s of ",50,000 in addi tion to the .i5, 000 which is covered by the Federal <br />Deposit Insurance, then the Treasurer is directed to report the situation to <br />the Commission for further instructions. <br /> <br />r' r " r: r. .C <br />v"" {. ~... <br />
