..~ -~ -----
. printer and the final report is due out soon. The Executive Review
Committee is meeting (negotiating) at present, trying to come up with
an uncompromising compromise. Great pressure is being exerted by the
trout fishing/river rafting folks for a higher minimum flow. A recent
WAPA publication estimated a $5 million loss in power revenues if the
operation were changed to a 5,000 cfs year-round minimum flow. We
will st~y in touch (immediately) with the work group as decisions and
impacts become clearer.

HOOVER

Hoover releases for February are scheduled to meet the flood control
requirement of 13,600 cfs. We are comfortable with this release level
which will provide for a smooth transition to downstream requirements
in March. We are attempting to store as much of this excess flow as
possible in Lakes Mohave and Havasu. Releases from Parker Dam are
approximately 2,200 cfs above downstream requirements. Releases will
average 10,300 cfs from Davis, and 8,700 cfs from Parker.

AS requested at the Work Group meeting we are providing the Mexico
schedule which is as follows:

~ MONTH

ACRE-FEET

January
February
March
April
May
June
July
August
September
October
November
December

58,417
113,256
224,852
218,618
124,798
158,616
218,206
215,150
89,308
73,852
77,278
127,649

TOTAL

1,700,000

More info on repair of Hoover's 8 spillway drum gates ...

The repair work will consist of: 1. replacing the existing external
caulk welds between the upstream and bottom skinplates; 2. reinforcing
the internal welds; and 3. sealing the tap bolts which connect the
hinge fittings to the bottom skinplates. For external welding the drum
gates must be in the fully lowered position and the reservoir must be
below elevation 1204.76 feet. For the internal welding, the gate can
be either in the fully raised or fully lowered position.

Other news

The COE is releasing 300 cfs from Alamo Dam. They need to bring Alamo
Reservoir to elevation 1100 feet so that a barge and divers can place
a bulkhead gate for dewatering and inspection of the outlet tunnel.
The current elevation is 1101 feet (storage of 95,042), But with
occassional daily inflows greater then 2,600 cfs, we can expect the
300 cfs release to continue for some time. The impact of this release
will be negligible on Lower Colorado River operations.
