Here the rate used in <br /> <br />the Rio Grande Joint Investigation of 1.43 acre-feet per acre, as an <br /> <br />average for all species was used. As shown in table 1 about 55 percent <br /> <br />of the estimated 3 million acre-feet for the State, occurred in the <br /> <br />Colorado River drainage, 32 percent in the San Luis Valley and the <br />remainir.g 13 percent in the Platte, Republican and Arkansas River basins. <br /> <br /> <br />It is difficult to estimate the percentage of the total phreatophyte <br /> <br /> <br />area in the State included in table 1. It certainly is not complete. <br /> <br /> <br />Perhaps 75 or 80 percent is a reasonable estimate.
